"IT DOES HAVE A KNEE ON THE GROUND.
BECAUSE IT IS RESTING, FALLING DOWN, STANDING UP OR CARRYING THE EARTH LIKE ATLAS?"

The present Project is produced by the Onassis Cultural Center with the support of the French Institute of Greece.

A KNEE ON THE GROUND is gathering & collecting. Acting like a pollinator device and mimicking the way exchanges are made between plants. Creating interconnections and generating intentional and deliberate superpositions.

Kassandras is using the context of “geometries” not to exhibit but as a space of production that will be periodically activated.

By setting-up a sound-recording booth, kassandras aims to produce two and half months of audio content - to be edited at a later date for broadcast and installations and to extend the project’s life beyond the exhibition.

A KNEE ON THE GROUND is seen as a transitory sequence. An existentialist playground where we are inviting participants to make recordings that “question” the fatal outcome of mankind’s actions and the possibilities of recovering from them.

A KNEE ON THE GROUND is also conceived as an abstract meeting point where we can invite the actors of our athens ‑ post-crisis, transitional and evolving cultural scene to participate and become part of a process of picturing and archiving the momentum of athens as a territory of possibilites.

From interviews, discussions, fictions, and audio-drama, to performances, music, dj sets and soundscapes, ... The recordings are not limited by any format and are curated and produced by invited contributors.

Information is a key element for all living species, it is what allows us to understand the environment we are living in, as well as anticipate and adapt to what is coming.
